Last month the focus was on production, and it turns out that when you focus on sticker sales, you get some sticker sales.
Who knew?
Nothing world beating, but sticker sales nonetheless – which is something to build on. Plus, you know what that means… we’re back, baby!
Here is a recap of February 2025:
RECAPPING FEBRUARY 2025
This month gave me some hope that the production woes I encountered thoughout the month of January are behind me. I have struggled with getting my Silohuette Cameo 4 to cut borders to my minimum standards of excellence – and don’t want to jinx it… but it certainly feels like those woes may be behind me.
By the end of the month, I was able to print stickers on demand to fulfill orders and it felt like a huge breakthrough.
Here is a breakdown of significant events and my takeaways:
Operations
- 2 new stickers dropped on the website
- 6 new stickers in development
- 3 “ads” designed in Canva and posted on Instagram
The ads were a key source of learning for me this month. I came up with a pretty basic method for making Reels that promote a sticker drop. The cool part was that they can be engaged with like regular meme posts…
What am I basing that on?
Good question. I’m looking at the engagement received on Reels that I consider to be “ads” and comparing that to engagement that meme Reels receive. Depending on the sticker design – “ad” Reels can do as well or better than meme Reels.
This was an interesting takeaway and encouraging that I can continue to test ways to make product drops “feel” like a natural extension of a meme account page.
For what it’s worth.
Marketing
The Instagram account gained 146 new followers and lost 43 followers – netting 103 new followers.
There were a couple posts this month that did most of the heavy lifting…
For example, I thought it would be cool to find a silhouette of a cadet marching tours for an NBA logo style sticker – and it turns out that a design I made on a whim was pretty popular among the Zoo crowd. The “ad” I created for this sticker received 430 likes and brought 45 new followers to Mandatory Fun.
Good times.
I think that I had the most fun putting a collection of #faclonlove Valentines together this month. Behind the scenes, all I did was Google classic pick-up lines and then give them a fraternization spin.
The idea of frat working both ways has been funny to me since a 2 degree in my element was kicked out for being found black-out drunk in one of my classmate’s rooms after taps… plot twist, it was the wrong room.
I get that this idea would not be funny to anyone who has been disciplined for frat related activities – deal with it, I guess?
Revenue
TL;DR: Here are the stats this month – and you can see a cumulative total on the About page if you care to…
Like I mentioned above, orders started to come back this month and you love to see it. If you are reading this and ordered something from the site last month, thank you.
On a personal level, it is definitely gratifying to have people like your work enough to part with their hard earned cash in order to make some of it their own.
I think my biggest overall takeaway this month was a confirmation on the true business model for an online sticker “company.”
You definitely need a channel or channels to collect an audience of like minded people – and once you have that channel, you need to develop some internal processes that allow you to share new products on some kind of regular basis.
Duh, right? Every side-hustle YouTube grifter will tell you this… but I would say that there was a tremendous amount of validation of this simple idea after I put started putting it into practice and seeing a correlation with my own eyes.
I think that it’s fair to say that I still have a ways to go before I can claim to have put this concept into rinse and repeat status. That being said, I am happy to be a lot closer now, than I have ever been in the past when it comes follow through on this idea.
And the cool part is that it is a lot more fun, than I had imagined.
