No large wholesale orders to boost sticker sales in June, however there was one large learning that feels a lot like an insight.
And it may have led to a record month for retail sales…
Here is the Mandatory Fun sticker sales breakdown for June 2025, along with my takeaways.
Operations
4 new stickers dropped this month:
I’ve been on a kick to test out different sticker sizes and price points and this month’s drops followed that methodology.
Three of the four sticker drops this month came in at $2 or less, so you could say that I am committed to figuring out if smaller, cheaper stickers are the way for Mandatory Fun.
Marketing
The Instagram account gained 216 followers and lost 54 followers – netting 162 new followers.
I made four different promos for the four sticker drops and the GBU 57 Chill promo had the widest reach, clocking in 4,188 views to 69% non-followers.
Key Instagram Insight
News jacking gets views.
I made a parody of a Tucker Carlson vs. Ted Cruz clip that was making the rounds that ended up getting 12,995 views from 77% non-followers.
This isn’t really a new insight, for me, but I thought that it was relevant to share here. Trying to jack news stories is hit or miss, depending on your take, but it can be funny and you can usually get views when you add your take or thing with something people are going crazy about in the news.
Market Research
One super cool thing about building an audience on Instagram is interacting with them to learn what they want. In last month’s recap, I wrote about exploring sticker sizes and price points and I was able to get feedback that was pretty unanimously in favor of smaller and cheaper.
You can check out more on that topic, my methodology, and the existing stickers that are now available smaller, and cheaper in this post.
Website Traffic
Moving this recap up to the Marketing section and wondering why it took me six months to figure that out…
It looks like traffic from Instagram to the website was back to where I need it to be, being that all of my content marketing related efforts are tied to that platform.
Instagram referral traffic was up +176% month-over-month and overall site traffic was up +40.4% last month, with 271 users clicking into the website in June.
Revenue
TL;DR – Here are last month’s stats – and you can see a cumulative total each month on the About page, if you want because we’re building in public over here…
Orders are still sporadic, but they seem to occur toward the beginning and end of the calendar month. Not sure yet if that is tied to my promotional activity, weather patterns in Guam, the price of pork bellies on the NYSE, or what…
I’m still piecing things together.
But I do know that the site hit two milestones last month by:
- Reaching over $200 in retail sales
- Receiving a $66 retail order
And I am fully jazzed about those two milestones.
Sticker Size & Price
In last month’s recap I wrote about new designs and lower price points and I am thinking that was a contributing factor to sales.
Here’s why:
The number of orders processed remained flat while average order value went way up – with the newer, smaller designs being sold in just about every outbound order last month.
Small sample size, but good to know nonetheless – and I’ll continue to track it.
Other Tasks
I made no progress on figuring out how to setup an Instagram store and spent no money on ads across any of the Meta platforms – so those things are still on my to-do list to try to boost monthly order count.
Which means that’s a wrap on this month’s update.
If you’ve read this far, you’re a real one and I thank you for it. Feel free to slide into the DMs on Instagram to talk memes, business, marketing, or design… and mention the monthly recap.
I am clearly into all of those subjects and open to connecting on them, sharing what I know, and learning from others.
